Fusing dance with story, word and voice and focusing on authentic personal life stories is what Sara Draper of the interdisciplinary Dancepatheatre is all about. For her current work, an experiment she has wanted to do for a long time, she will be letting go of some personal artistic control where all performers are also creative collaborators of the work; everyone will move and everyone will vocalize on a theme of journeys and transformation. Lindsey Thompson plays with the concept of the public vs. private self as she employs extra long tubing from her insulin pump and live feed video to reveal the more intimate acts involved with dealing with her disease and the complexities that surround the healthcare discussion. Drawing from her own personal experiences, Roberta Cortes creates a solo work exploring the idea of belonging to a certain place and how that shapes who we are in "... but why am I not there?"

| It's soft and hard and happens in different lights: Daniel Adame's "Touch Base Spring Action," has rhythm and rock take form in a counterbalance of sexy and bland and Alex Soares taps into the suspenseful tension in a short story by Miranda July, manipulating dream/sleep behavior in a work that is minimal and gestural and breaks into expansive, violent movement. Rosie Trump has an impulse to tell you private things about herself onstage. In her newest work she will be taking the personal risk of revealing the less than flattering, the failure, the underside to a captive audience. From Austin: Dance, gesture music and sculptural design all come together in Rosalyn Nasky's newest work, a darkly humorous performance of a classical song cycle sung in German with a pianist, opera singer and a dancer. |

MASTER CLASS | SUCHU DANCE Saturday, June 18 | 10:30-12pm | $5 |
SUCHU REP/WEIRD SKILLS, led by Suchu Dance founder and choreographer Jennifer Wood, is a class that will investigate the smallest possibilities of movement as well as the broader strokes of dancing. Through the expressive articulation of the back and limbs, dropping weight and focusing on initiating movements from the core of the body, the unique movement style of Suchu Dance will be explored beginning with a warm-up based in creating a foundation of breath, strength, dynamic lyricism and humor. The class will progress into short movement combinations addressing specific elements of technique and functional anatomy, and then conclude with learning a section from the Suchu Dance concert repertory. Students will focus on quick assimilation and exploration of movement in terms of quality and personal expression.
